Future plans for Local Care

Through the Spring and Summer our NHS West Kent CCG engagement team were out and about talking to people about future plans for Local Care. You may have seen our banner, staff and volunteers on a High Street near you, or at an outdoor event like the Tonbridge Food Festival.  We want to thank all those who stopped to talk, or completed our travel survey  or came to one of our public events.

You said

250 people came to the events and all your views contributed to an independent report. You told us about your views on which services we should have if we create local care hubs and how import travel and transport is when considering how many and where these facilities should be. 418 people told us about their travel.  We ran a short transport survey online and took printed copies of a transport out with us and to Community Hospitals and to three public events where we presented local care plans. Overall, you thought that people shouldn’t need to travel any longer than 30 minutes by car or 45 minutes by public transport to get to a hub. You liked the idea of hubs, but felt that you needed to know more about what services they would offer,  how they would be able to remain as local services that reflect local needs, and where they would be.

We did

Everything that you told us was part of the evidence that our governing body considered, deciding to pursue development of 3 hubs and 2 mini hubs.
