Wheelchair services in Kent and Medway

NHS Thanet Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) plans and buys wheelchair services for patients across Kent and Medway on behalf of the eight CCGs. In April 2017 the eight CCGs awarded a contract to Millbrook Healthcare to provide these services.

The service provides:

  • Wheelchairs for people with a long-term need for a wheelchair (six months or more).
  • Manual and powered wheelchairs to children, young people and adults, following referral by a healthcare professional such as a GP or physiotherapist and an eligibility check.

The service does not provide wheelchairs for short-term use (less than six months). These are loaned by organisations such as the Red Cross.

Approximately 24,000 people in Kent and Medway use the NHS-funded wheelchair service at any given time.

More information on the wheelchair service that Millbrook provides can be found here: http://www.millbrook-healthcare.co.uk/contact-us/service-centre-locations/wheelchair-services/kent-and-medway-wheelchair-service/
